Berjaya Air
Berjaya Air is an independent off-shoot regional airline of the Berjaya family of companies. Known for their hardy 48 seat Dash-7 turboprop airplanes operating between Singapore Changi Airport and Tioman's Tekek airport, Berjaya Air has recently suspended its Singapore - Tioman - Singapore route until further notice.
Originally, Berjaya Air departed from Seletar Airport, in the north of Singapore, but eventually Berjaya Air proudly earned the upgrade to Changi's Budget Terminal.
For years, Berjaya Air was the sole airline flying to Tioman. In fact, Berjaya Air was responsible for a steady flow of travelers to Tioman, in part due to Tioman's ever-growing popularity as a get-away paradise, but also because the Berjaya Air tickets' affordable pricing, especially during promotion periods.
Even during the relatively quiet monsoon months, when the Mersing to Tioman ferry service is occassionally affected by weather and waves, Berjaya Air continueD operating its roughly 1 hour long lights between Singapore and Tioman almost daily.
But, as of 2014, Berjaya Air has suspended its Singapore to Tioman flights, as well as its KL to Tioman flights.
That said, for those who prefer flying to Tioman Island, rather than taking the ferry, there is a comfortable, convenient yet affordable airline that currently flies to Tioman from Singapore and Malaysia. Click here for a
