If you're into camping and you enjoy being surrounded by a beautiful bounty island panorama, white sandy beach, coconut trees and all, then you have got to try camping in Tioman Island.

There are a few spots along the west coast and the east coast of Tioman, and even the south coast, where you can set up camp, that is, once you've acquired the required permit. The allocated camp area on the west coast, in Kampong Tekek, is just in front of the airport building, close to the Marine Park. This is also where you'll find gazebos, BBQ pits and restroom amenities, so that's quite convenient.

Kampong Juara, on the east coast of Tioman, also offers camping facilities in a designated camping area. Juara's beaches are perhaps a little more idyllic than Tekek's beaches, simply because this village is not as well known and a little more out of the way, as compared to larger and more centrally-located Tekek. Still, this makes Juara an ideal place for those who prefer quiet secluded camping ground locations.

If you want to camp near Kampong Genting, at the south end of Tioman, then try Nipah Beach. The greens and blues of the natural scenery here, and the sounds from the jungle, all add to Nipah's awesome appeal. Camping here is a very awe-inspiring experience, particularly for campers who prefer an outdoor environment overlooking the open sea.

Plenty of outdoor activities are available here, such as volleyball, kayaking, snorkeling, island hopping, fishing, and jungle trekking. And if you enjoy a BBQ, then you'll be happy to know that this is offered here (on request). Do also visit Tioman's largest waterfall, the Asah Waterfall. You will not regret it.
