Apart from Tioman's breathtaking natural beauty, excellent water clarity and easy accessibilty, this little bounty island is an absolute Family Day Paradise.
For example, if you're two families looking to spend some idyllic time together, then head for the Tioman Berjaya Resort and Spa. Tioman Berjaya offers comfortable cottages that are spacious and filled to the rim with creature comforts. Best of all, you can book two adjacent rooms, joined by a common door, so you can have one big family cottage for both families.
Better yet, Berjaya's cottages are located within a stone's throw of Tioman's pristine west coast and offers a stretch of beach that rivals some of the prettiest beaches this side of Bali. Familiy beach picnic, anyone?
Berjaya's atmosphere is tranquil and relaxing, courtesy of the manicured gardens en sun-kissed coconut trees waving gently in the onshore breeze. The grounds features dozens of facilities, designed to keep your family entertained from morning to night.
Everybody's having fun fun fun
Ready for a snorkeling session to remember? Head for the reception for a quick briefing on where to collect your dive mask, snorkel, flippers and life-jacket. Safety first after all. You'll then be able to take the whole family to Pulau Renggis, a small island that's packed with underwater wildlife and, best of all off, some of the most stunning coral patches you'll see.
If you want nothing but the best for your family, then book the full-board package. The buffet-style meals are varied, generous and very tasty. And with the Malaysia Ringgit as low as it is, you can afford to splurge a bit.
Never a dull moment
Landlubbers, unite! There's some great land-based fun to be had in Tioman as well. Jungle-trekking, rock-climbing, souvenir-shopping. Or rent a bicycle and follow the track in Tekek or Juara. You'll love the quaint Malay kampongs along the way. Don't forget to try some of the local delicacies.

The most common way to get to Tioman is by catching the ferry from Mersing. You can buy tickets over the counter from the various Mersing Harbour Centre counters or online in advance. If you're the free and easy type of traveller, then counter tickets will do just fine. Should the ferry be fully booked for that day, then there's bound to be another one the day after. So just head into Mersing town for a nice meal and stay overnight in one of the numerous hotels and motels that Mersing offers.
If you're short of time, or you're traveling with kids or elderly, then booking in advance is highly recommended, because the ferry tends to cross to Tioman at dynamic departure times.
